On this site, "used" means the tote is sold as returned from service. Nothing has been rinsed or reworked for you, so the condition of the inner bottle depends on what it held and how it was emptied. That is the trade-off: you skip the preparation step, and in exchange you take on the job of reviewing the lot and doing any cleaning yourself.
The container itself is the standard compact format. A 275 gallon IBC tote is typically built from an HDPE inner bottle inside a galvanized steel tubular cage, sitting on a steel, plastic or composite pallet base that a forklift or pallet jack can enter. Fill is through a top opening with a screw cap, commonly 6 inches, and discharge is through a bottom valve, commonly a 2-inch butterfly or ball valve.

Exact unit details are confirmed with your quote, since cage style, pallet type and valve can vary inside a lot. Browsing more broadly? The 275 gallon IBC totes page lists every condition and grade at this size, and used IBC totes covers the as-returned range across both sizes.
The appeal is practical. At roughly 46 inches tall, the 275 sits low enough to fit under shelving, inside box trucks and beside equipment where a taller unit gets awkward. It is lighter to move empty, easier to top-fill without a ladder in many setups, and it holds a volume many small operations can actually use up before the contents sit too long.
Choosing used rather than reconditioned makes sense when:
Current lot photos are available on request. The tote photos and order review page explains how that works.
Against the 275 gallon reconditioned IBC tote, the used version has the same dimensions but no rinse or inspection step added, which usually means a lower per-unit price and more work on your end. If your end use is sensitive to residue, the reconditioned option is often the better starting point.
Against the 330 gallon used IBC tote, the difference is size. The 330 stands about 7 inches taller and weighs about 15 lb more empty, but it holds 55 more gallons on a similar footprint. If floor space is tight and height is not, the 330 gives more storage per square foot. The 275 vs 330 gallon guide walks through that decision.
Buyers commonly put these compact caged totes to work for rainwater and non-potable storage, livestock and spray water on farms, wash water and rinse holding, and staging of compatible industrial liquids. Field crews like them because a used 275 gallon tote fits in a pickup bed or small trailer more easily than the taller size. For gravity-fed watering, a garden hose adapter on the bottom valve is the usual first upgrade, and a tote cover helps with sunlight and algae outdoors.
Used 275 gallon totes can be picked up by arrangement at our Pennsville, New Jersey and Tampa, Florida yards. Smaller orders ship LTL, quoted to your ZIP. Full truckloads of about 60 totes are quoted individually, and quantity pricing tiers lower the per-tote price as order size grows. Totes stack when empty, and often when filled within the rating on the unit's label, so check the label before stacking full ones.
Send us the size (275 gallon), condition (used), grade, quantity, intended use and delivery ZIP through the request a quote form, or call 484-787-7479. We confirm availability, price and the specific lot with your quote, and we can send current photos before you commit.
No. Used totes are sold as returned from service, without a rinse or cleaning step added. Previous contents vary by lot, so ask what the lot held and request current photos. If you want totes that have been rinsed and inspected, look at the reconditioned 275 gallon listing instead.
Often, yes, depending on the bed. The tote is approximately 40 by 48 inches and 46 inches tall, and weighs about 135 lb empty. Measure your bed between the wheel wells and tailgate, and plan on a ramp, liftgate or forklift for loading. Exact dimensions are confirmed with your quote.
A used tote is not automatically suitable for drinking water. Before considering it, find out exactly what the tote held, decide whether your cleaning can deal with that, and look up the rules that govern water supply where you are. Our totes are not represented as approved for drinking water. Many buyers use them for rainwater, irrigation and other non-drinking water instead.
A full truckload is about 60 totes and is quoted individually to your location. Smaller quantities ship by LTL freight quoted to your ZIP code, or can be picked up by arrangement at our Pennsville, NJ or Tampa, FL yards. Larger orders reach lower quantity pricing tiers.
Only if the tote has a current periodic test and inspection as required under 49 CFR for reused IBCs. Do not assume retest status from the original UN marking. We do not claim our totes are retested unless that is confirmed in your quote, so raise it when you request pricing.
