Reconditioned IBC totes are rinsed, cleaned and inspected caged containers in 275-gallon and 330-gallon sizes, ready for buyers who want a cleaner starting point than an as-returned tote. On this site, "reconditioned" and "rinsed" describe the same range. Here is what that preparation covers, what to ask about each lot and how to order.

A reconditioned IBC tote is a previously used intermediate bulk container that has been rinsed or cleaned and inspected before sale. The goal is simple: take the residue and guesswork out of the tote so it can go to work sooner. Instead of draining, scrubbing and checking a tote yourself, you receive one that has already been through a preparation step.
You will also see these sold as rinsed IBC totes or cleaned IBC totes. On bulkibctotes.com those terms all point to this same range. Because preparation can vary from lot to lot, always ask what preparation and component work was done on the lot offered in your quote. We confirm that detail, along with current lot photos, before you order.
No first-day washout. Set the tote in place, connect a fitting and start filling, after confirming it suits your contents.
Inspection screens out obvious problems such as cracked bottles, broken cages or leaking valves before the tote ships.
A better match for visible, customer-facing or sensitive uses where residue, odor or staining would be a problem.
If your application is forgiving and you have your own wash bay, used IBC totes may cost less. If you want the tote to arrive closer to ready, reconditioned is the better starting point.
| Factor | Used (as returned) | Reconditioned / rinsed |
|---|---|---|
| Interior | Residue from previous product possible | Rinsed or cleaned |
| Inspection | Buyer reviews photos and history | Inspected before sale |
| Components | As found | Ask what valve, cap or gasket work was done on the lot |
| Buyer effort | Clean before reuse | Verify suitability, then use |
| Relative cost | Lowest | Moderate, reflects preparation |
We sell secondhand totes only. A reconditioned tote gives you a working caged container while keeping a usable IBC in service instead of in a scrap pile.
Preparation is not one fixed recipe across the industry, so a good quote spells out what you are getting. Ask:
Our tote photos and order review page explains how lot photos and order confirmation work.
Every reconditioned tote in this range is a caged IBC with, typically, an HDPE inner bottle, galvanized steel tubular cage and steel, plastic or composite pallet base. The top opening is commonly a 6-inch screw cap, and the bottom outlet is commonly a 2-inch butterfly or ball valve.
Not sure which size? Our 275 vs 330 gallon guide covers footprint, height and handling.
Not automatically. Rinsing removes residue, but it does not by itself make a tote suitable for food products or drinking water. If your use involves anything people or animals will consume, confirm the previous contents, ask exactly how the tote was cleaned and verify it meets the requirements of your application and any regulations that apply to you. Many food and beverage users perform their own sanitation step after delivery. Our food and beverage handling page covers this in more detail.
A clean tote stays clean longer with a little care:
Caged IBCs are commonly UN-marked (such as 31HA1) when new. Reconditioning for general storage is not the same as the periodic test and inspection that 49 CFR requires before a reused IBC carries hazardous materials. If that is your plan, confirm retest status in writing. We do not describe our totes as retested unless that is confirmed in your quote.
When your order arrives by freight or you load it at a yard, take a few minutes per tote before signing off and putting them into service:
Freight carriers usually expect damage to be noted on the delivery receipt, so inspect before the driver leaves when possible.
Larger buyers such as growers, bottlers, chemical blenders and resellers often standardize on one size and grade so every tote fits the same racks, stands and fittings. If that describes you, tell us your monthly or seasonal volume. Ordering a consistent lot type helps keep valves, caps and pallet styles uniform across a delivery, and quantity tiers lower the per-tote price. A full truckload holds about 60 totes. Mixed loads of 275 and 330 gallon units can also be discussed on the quote.
Price is confirmed with each quote. What moves it:
Tell us the size, condition (reconditioned), grade, quantity, intended use and delivery ZIP code. If your use is sensitive, describe the product going into the tote so we can match the lot history. We confirm lot photos, preparation details, availability and freight in your quote. Request pricing on the request a quote page or call 855-620-3426. To compare every option, return to the main IBC totes guide.
A reconditioned IBC tote is a previously used intermediate bulk container that has been rinsed or cleaned and inspected before sale. On this site, reconditioned and rinsed describe the same range. Preparation can vary by lot, so ask what cleaning and component work was done on the lot offered in your quote.
On bulkibctotes.com, yes. Rinsed, cleaned and reconditioned all refer to totes that were cleaned or rinsed and inspected. Other sellers may use the terms differently, so always ask exactly what preparation was done rather than relying on the label alone.
Only after you verify it. Choose a reconditioned food-grade tote, confirm the previous contents, ask how it was cleaned and check that it meets your application and any regulations. A rinsed tote is not automatically ready for food or drinking water, and many food users sanitize again after delivery.
Component work varies by lot. Some totes may receive a new valve, cap or gasket, while others keep original parts that passed inspection. Ask what component work was done on your lot. Replacement valves, caps and gaskets are also available as accessories.
You are paying for preparation. A reconditioned tote arrives rinsed and inspected, which saves cleaning time, wash water and disposal of residue. If you have a wash setup and a forgiving use, used totes may be the better value. If you want a ready start, reconditioned usually wins.
Yes. Current lot photos are available on request before ordering. Photos on the site are representative, and the actual lot, preparation details, availability and price are confirmed with your quote.
Not by default. Shipping hazardous materials in a reused IBC requires current periodic testing and inspection under 49 CFR. Cleaning for general storage is a separate process. We do not represent our totes as retested unless that is confirmed in your quote.
