Every buyer is responsible for confirming previous contents, cleaning and sanitation, and whether the tote meets the needs of their product and any regulations that apply. That is true at any size, but it carries more weight at 330 gallons because more product is at stake in every container.
Operations that run full-pallet logistics tend to land on the 330. It holds 330 gallons on an approximately 48 × 40 inch base, stands about 53 inches tall and weighs about 150 lb empty. In a plant with forklifts and pallet racking, that is the most volume you can put in one caged IBC position, and it means fewer containers to clean, track and swap per batch.
Where it fits best:
Our food and beverage handling page covers how buyers think through these uses. One planning note specific to the larger size: a full 330 gallon tote of a dense syrup or concentrate is a heavy load, so confirm your forklift capacity, floor loading and rack ratings before you scale up from smaller containers. It is also worth dedicating each tote to a single product once it is in service, rather than rotating the same container between different ingredients.
The taller bottle has practical effects. Inspecting and cleaning the interior through a top opening (commonly 6 inches) is harder than on a 275, so many food buyers prefer reconditioned food-grade IBC totes at this size, then run their own validated sanitation. Others buy used food-grade IBC totes because they have a wash system built for full-size totes and would clean everything regardless.
Gravity discharge is the other consideration. The bottom valve, commonly a 2-inch butterfly or ball valve, drains a full 330 more slowly toward the end; elevate the tote on a stand or plan for a pump if you need complete, fast emptying.
The 275 gallon food grade tote has the same grade logic in a shorter, lighter container that is easier to clean by hand and fits small production rooms. Choose it if your batches are smaller or your ceiling and doorways are tight.
The 330 gallon non food grade tote is the same size with a non-food history. If your use is water, agriculture or industrial, it is typically the more economical buy.
For the wider picture, see the 330 gallon IBC totes overview and the food-grade IBC totes hub, which covers this grade at both sizes.
Pickup by arrangement is available at our Pennsville, NJ and Tampa, FL yards; details are on the locations page. Delivered orders ship LTL quoted to your ZIP, and producers stocking ahead of a season can request a full truckload of about 60 totes, quoted individually with quantity pricing.
Submit size, condition, grade, quantity, intended product and delivery ZIP through request a quote, or call 484-787-7479. Telling us what you plan to store helps match lot history. Availability, price and lot details are confirmed with your quote, and current photos are available before you order.
No. The label tells you where the tote has been, namely food, beverage or ingredient service in a food-contact HDPE bottle, not that it is ready for you. Plan to verify the prior product, run your own cleaning and sanitation, and check the tote against your product and the rules your operation follows before the first fill.
If you have a wash system sized for full-size totes, used food grade totes may suit you at a lower unit price. If not, reconditioned food grade totes arrive rinsed and inspected, which reduces the work before your own sanitation. Ask what was done to the specific lot either way.
Each lot has its own history within food, beverage and ingredient service. Name your intended product in the quote request and we will tell you what the offered lot carried so you can judge carryover risk for allergens, flavor and odor.
We do not represent any of our totes as approved for drinking water. A used or reconditioned food grade tote is not automatically suitable for that purpose. Anyone considering it must confirm prior contents, cleaning and any regulatory requirements that apply to their situation.
